Walt Wagner will be performing some of his greatest piano jazz and pop improvisations to help commemorate Tukwila's 100-year celebration. Walt is a graduate of Foster High School and former resident of Tukwila. Early in his career he played extensively at Tukwila's Doubletree Inn. The 2008 Centennial recognizes Walt's contribution to the arts in this showcase concert event. A prolific composer, Walt writes much of the music for his concert and club appearances. Walt Wagner was featured for two years at the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival at the University of Idaho performing the opening pair of concerts for UI's "Four Seasons of Jazz" series. He toured internationally with the Peggy Flemming in "A Concert on Ice". He has completed some notable recordings with powerful interpretations of "Chariots of Fire" by Vangelis and another CD release dedicated to the music of Pink Floyd called "In the Pink". Join us for Walt's return visit as Tukwila turns 100 years.

In honor of the Tukwila Centennial, this year's performances are centered on Tukwila. The elementary cast will be performing a play called "Grandma Told Me", which is about Tukwila as related to grandchildren by their grandparents. The second play is "Wizards of the Mall" which is a remix of the Wizard of Oz only set at Westfield Southcenter Mall. The final play is "Our Town Tukwila", which is also a remix of the play by Thornton Wilder set in modern day Tukwila. "Wizards of the Mall" and "Our Town Tukwila" will feature mixed casts that include middle school, high school and adults playing age appropriate parts. Admission is free, but canned food will be collected at the door for the Tukwila Food Pantry.

The main vendor area will be on the softball/soccer field area and the new spray park will be in operation with the kids activities will be located next to it. Tukwila Days now includes our Vintage Car Show, so if you are a car enthusiast bring out your toys to show off in the parade and at the festival. As usual, there will have great Roving Entertainers, Face Painters, and family-friendly Clowns! In honor of the Tukwila Centennial, the Tukwila Historical Society is helping organize "Old Town Tukwila" in the Community Center Gym which will feature displays of historic photos and memorabilia and also a vaudeville show!

Artists are invited to create paintings anywhere within the City of Tukwila the week of June 13-19.
All paintings must be created en plein air.
Registered artists will have seven days to complete their works of art, which must be executed outdoors and on-site within the city limits.
Accepted mediums are oil, pastel, acrylic and watercolor.
Paintings will be juried at the Tukwila Community Center on June 19. 1st Prize $1,000. 2nd Prize $500. 3rd Prize $275.
Artists are also welcome to participate in a "Quick Draw" Competition.

Center. Maps and directions will be provided, and Paint Out Committee
